Amy Imdieke Hooping

Sometimes you need to go and shoot just for the joy of it, this is one of those projects. Amy Imdieke is a Senior Graphic Designer in Minneapolis. Out side of her day job she is a member of the hula hooping dance troupe known as the Twistin Vixens.

Amy's skills with the hoop is a site to behold. As Amy did her thing we followed along with her capturing the movements. Her diverse bag of tricks in the end shined throughout the project.

Prairie Organic: Cocktails from Corn Fields

Recently we worked with Philips Distilling on a handful of shoots to create images for social, web and print. The first shoot was to create images focused around a handful of recipes. We shot on location at the beautiful Cafe Lurcat which gave us options for different looks given their large and unique space.

The second shoot was on location at the Olson Family Farm, which is one of the local Minnesota Organic farms which Prairie Organic gets their corn from to make Vodka and Gin. Working freely on the farm we were able to make images with and without product to be used on social as well as print collateral.

Rasmussen School of Health Science

Some shoots require crazy call times. Our shoot with Rasmussen College was no exception. We were brought in to shoot new collateral for the School of Health Science. Given the clinic and pharmacy settings we shot in, we had to work around their schedules. With that, we shot the clinic images at night until after 11:00 pm. We brough enough lights to shoot through the lobby windows, creating a daylight look well after sunset.

The next morning, we had a call time at 5:00am at the pharmacy, with a hard out by 8am so they could open to the public. Working quickly, we shot 3 different scenes. We used the battery powered Profoto B1 lights which allowed us to shoot quickly and not waste time hiding cords or looking for power sources.

Our team worked like a well oiled machine. We got in, set up, shot, and packed out without missing a beat. The final images can be seen on the Rasmussen College School of Health Sciences website, social media, and web advertisements.

MN Power Hockey

In a suburb just North of  Minneapolis there is a dedicated group of hockey players that get together throughout the summer months. This is the MN Power Hockey league. This fast paced game is for people of all abilities with one common thing, all the players are in powered wheelchairs.

We teamed up with the league to produce a short video highlighting the sport, and what it means to be a part of it. Shooting the games was a fun challenge given the speed of Power Hockey.  Working with the athletes was great, they were so willing to share their stories and passion for the game. We hope that this video will help spread awareness for the game and hopefully get more people involved in the sport. To learn more head over to the MN Power Hockey website.

Pioneer Alfalfa: Imperial Valley, CA

This past December as the snow lay on the ground here in Minnesota, we traveled out to the Imperial Valley area of California for a shoot with Pioneer DuPont. The warmth was a welcome change as we spent two days in the Alfalfa fields capturing a variety of images. Normally with Ag shoots the middle of the day isn't ideal for shooting since the sun is directly over head. Fortunately for us, shooting in December the sun was much lower in the sky, allowing us to keep going all day out in the field.

This shoot was also the first we shot entirely on the new Canon 5dmkiv and we couldn't be more happy with the outcome. The camera's dynamic range is leaps and bounds better than the older 5dmkiii. It allowed us to keep details in the highlights as well as pull details from the shadows unlike we had been able to before. We also shot a fair amount tethered to the new 15in Mac Book Pro which was easily able to keep up with the camera even when shooting bursts. When not tethered, we were able to send preview images from the camera directly to an iPad so the client could keep watching the shots as we went along.
